GES SUHUM MUNICIPAL EDUCATION DIRECTORATE CELEBRATES INTERNATIONAL DAY OF MATHEMATICS
The Suhum Municipal Education Directorate’s STEM Unit, in collaboration with the Ghana Society for Education Technology (G-SET), recently organized a Mathematics Day event in the Suhum Municipality of the Eastern Region.
THEME: “PLAYING WITH MATHEMATICS”
Mr. Phillip Opoku Boateng, the coordinator at the STEM Unit, emphasized the significance of the World Day of Mathematics, stressing the need to engage students in mathematics education. Boateng highlighted that despite widespread apprehension among students regarding mathematics, the subject is not as daunting as perceived. He encouraged everyone to embrace the subject as it primarily deals with numbers. In celebration of the International Day of Mathematics, he facilitated exercises for both students and teachers in the Suhum Municipality.
Several students who participated in the International Day of Mathematics shared their experiences with Ahotor FM News Correspondent, Eric Nyarko. They expressed newfound confidence in their mathematical abilities, acknowledging that the event helped dispel the misconception that mathematics is inherently difficult.
