Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr., has questioned Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s commitment to his pledge to reduce the size of his government if elected President.
Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, outlining his vision to Ghanaians weeks ago, stated emphatically that the number of Ministers he will appoint won’t exceed fifty (50).
To him, this number is feasible to work with in achieving his vision and policies for the nation.
I would have not more than 50 ministers and deputy ministers, he emphasized in an address at UPSA on Wednesday, February 7.
Following this pledge, the Vice President and flagbearer of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has officially launched and announced his campaign team.
The team includes former General Secretary of the party and former Local Government Minister, Dan Botwe as Chairman and STC Chief Executive Officer, Nana Akomea, together with a former First Vice Chairman of the party, Fred Oware, as Deputies.
Other names are Dr. Gideon Boako, Tano North parliamentary candidate for the NPP, who is the Spokesperson and Dennis Miracles Aboagye serves as Communications Director of the team.
There are other various names serving in different capacities to advance Dr. Bawumia’s vision of winning the December presidential elections.
Kwesi Pratt, in a media interview”, raised an issue with the size of the campaign team.
Mr. Pratt noted that the campaign team members amount to 40 in number, therefore purportedly casting doubts on the NPP flagbearer’s promise to use only 50 Ministers.
“Those who do the actual campaign in their thousands. Some will just wear T-shirts, others will advise and there are others who would take the materials somewhere; they are a lot, so not everyone’s name appears on the list. There wouldn’t be any paper to contain the names. Therefore, we sift them and list only the key figures who can do the campaign. What Dr. Bawumia and his team did yesterday, if they had done it differently, it would have been better. It’s not every person’s name that should be mentioned in the list “he said.
He queried Dr. Bawumia saying you said those you would work with in your government are 50 but your campaign team is 40, why?“Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr., has questioned Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s commitment to his pledge to reduce the size of his government if elected President.
