Executive Director of African Center for Parliamentary Affairs, Dr Rasheed Draman says he just thought it’s a failed coup and it speaks to the fact that an institution that is supposed to be an example of our democracy is itself not leaving by the core tenants of democracy, after hearing the move to change the leadership of the Majority caucus in parliament.
According to him, when you look at what happened during the changed in the minority side, all the front were taken off but the majority side was not like that when we heard the deputy majority leader will take over from his boss which he thinks was little strange, he said.
According to him, he asked if there is a division within the caucus because the understanding to him was not clear.
“Is there one camp that support the deputy leader and the other camp that support the main”, he asked.
He indicated that, maybe some people in the NPP party headquarters tried to make that attempt but has realized that ranked and file of the troops in parliament were not behind this idea.
Its good they took a very quick retreat and that may bring back the unity they want in the party, he added.
