Stade Rennais FC has announced the signing of the Ghanaian international defender, Alidu Seidu, from Clermont Foot 63.
The Ghanaian defender has signed a contract with the French Ligue 1 side until June 2028.
The 23-year-old made 89 appearances for the Breton side helping them secure promotion from Ligue 2 at the end 2020 – 2021 Season.
Speaking to the club’s website, he underscored how the move would help him realize his personal and professional ambitions: “Stade Rennais is a great club, this is a great privilege for me. I am a player who does not like to lose, I am combative, I give everything for my colleagues and I am always looking for progression.”
“I am very close to Kamaldeen Sulemana, and I get along very well with Christopher Wooh. The rest of the players, I’ve faced them in Ligue 1, I’m sure we will get on well in the locker room.”
He follows in the footsteps of fellow Ghanaians like Asamoah Gyan, John Boye, John Mensah, and Kamaldeen Sulemana as some Ghanaians who have featured for the French Club.
Alidu was part of the Ghana Black Stars final Squad that got eliminated in the group stage of 2023 Cote d’Ivoire AFCON.
