The former Parliamentary Aspirant, Tema Central Constituency, and National Communication Team Member of the National Democratic Congress has said the reality of the 2023 budget was pregnant with a lot of taxes which is likely going to worsen the plight of Ghanaians in this difficult economic hardship, the New Patriotic Party has plunge the country into for the past seven years.
He stated this on the Adekyee Mu Nsem morning show on Ahotor FM 92.3 hosted by Citizen Kofi Owusu in Accra. He is of the view that the verdict on the performance of the finance minister shows clearly that, the economic management of the New Patriotic Party has just destroyed and mismanaged the economy for the past seven years without accounting for anything.
He reiterated that investment and industry have suffered the NPP government indicating a negative 2.3% in the industrial sector. All the economic sectors of the economy are pointing to negatives, as a result creating severe economic hardship in the country.
Touching on the call from Hon MP for Akim Abuakwa South calling for the resignation of the finance minister Ken Ofori-Atta, he said the call was long overdue since he took over as a finance minister he was not able to change the economic fortune of the country, apart from destroying business and further overburden the country with debt as a result of over-borrowing. This he thinks has nothing to show for.
Speaking on the same platform the former Member of Parliament for Sege Hon. Alfred Abayateye, is of the view that, the president’s pronouncement on issues of national development concerning voting is very unfortunate and does not show any statesmanship. And call on the president to live beyond partisan issues and see to the entire welfare of the country by sharing the national cake very fairly in the development of the country.
The Executive Secretary for the Chamber for Local Governance Romeo Akahoho speaking on the same platform said the issues concerning the finance minister have become obvious that he is not in charge of managing the affairs of this country, he opined that it is appropriate to step down for both his own sake and the government. He reiterated that the minister has to do the needful to step aside for another person to take over.
