The posturing of the New Patriotic Party Flag bearer Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia understanding of the 24 hour economy policy espouses by the former president John Dramani Mahama is very unfortunate and misleading. The policy is a welcoming, that can bring electoral victory to National Democratic Congress.
The former President never said he is going to work on the existing 24 hour which Bawumia deceptively thinks the policy is already in operation, rather create enabling environment for public private partnership to expand the economy through job creation with the 24 hour economy.
The Member of Parliament for Bulsa South Dr. Clement Apaak said this on the Simpieso political talk show on Ahotor 92.3 FM hosted by Emmanuel Amartey (Alaska De Don).
He opined that, the policy has draw attention from the trade unions a strategic organization which embrace the policy and described it as a game changer, which does not depart from the vision the former president is working towards to turn the economy around for job creation.
Dr. Clement Apaak, said the track academic records of the flag bearer of the NPP candidate shows that he spends all his time outside the country and have seen and benefited from the policy in any part time work or shift system. This he said, is very unfortunate and disappointing the comment coming from the Vice president and the head of the economic team, trying to mislead the country can be describe as comic relief.
The records shows clearly that, the NDC has already have the policy in their 2020 manifesto, and there is nothing late for the for former president to speak to the issue at this crucial time where the economy is struggling in all sectors of the country, couple with high unemployment of 14.18% and the best way to go is to think outside the box to arrest this security threat of youth unemployment.
He can boldly state that, the NPP is confused and full of apprehension to see how the citizens and the strategic institutions have welcomed the proposal.
He believes if well thought through and implemented the country can see great strides in growth and development in the economy. He suggested that, effective tax breaks, security system and constant supply of power can help sustained the proposal of the 24 hour economy.
