Ghanaian broadcaster and entertainment pundit, Vida Adutwumwaa has asked gospel musicians to recognize and embrace the business aspect of their God-given talent.
Although she approved of the spiritual aspect of gospel music but urged the church and the public to also appreciate it as a business, asked the church to support and encourage the work of these artists beyond the concept of doing the lord’s work
She said .“I feel unhappy for Amy Newman and Patience Nyarko, their work is the talent they hold as singers without a pension, they live off the gift they have but it is unsatisfactory to see the church flourishing their works as doing the Lord’s work and not gaining it correspondingly as a business which also feeds their mouth”. She said on United Showbiz last Saturday.
The entertainment pundit uttered her unorthodox opinion on the recent statement made by Rev Abraham Lampatey, the Founder and General Overseer of Believers House of Worship International, Rev recommended that gospel events should be free to attend.
Expressing her disagreement with the Rev. stressing the trials faced by gospel artists who depend on their talent for their livelihood.
“That is your gold gift from God so work with it and make money from it. Save the suggestion thoughts in the church as working for the Lord and treat the gospel musician’s talent equally as a business. I will be highly disappointed as a member of Rev. Lamptey’s church knowing he believes in humbleness and working for the Lord but does not recognize their talents as a business”
Vida wishes a change in outlook to view gospel musicians as experts deserving of appreciation for their craft and as donors to the industry.
