In a riveting CAF Women’s Champions League encounter, Ampem Darkoa Ladies embarked on a rollercoaster journey, marked by dazzling goals and unexpected twists against Sporting Club Casablanca. The Stade de San Pedro stadium bore witness to the dramatic narrative, with each goal adding layers to the intense clash.
The Ghanaian champs, fueled by goals from Comfort Yeboah and Jennifer Owusua, seemed destined for glory, but a disputed penalty, sans VAR’s intervention, turned the tide in favour of AS Casablanca. In a tense showdown, AS Casablanca emerged triumphant, clinching a spot in the finals against Mamelodi Sundowns.
The saga began with Comfort Yeboah breaking the ice in the 6th minute, scoring the first goal for Ampem Darkoa. However, the tides turned when a twist of fate saw Comfort Yeboah inadvertently score an own goal in the 28th minute, granting Sporting Club Casablanca a lifeline.
Amidst the drama, undeterred, Jennifer Owusuaa emerged as the beacon of hope for Ampem Darkoa, unleashing a spectacular long-range goal, a true cracker, in the 39th minute to reclaim the lead.
However, fate had other plans as Aguiessa Diarra of Sporting Club Casablanca levelled the score with a penalty goal in the 56th minute pushing the game to a high-stakes penalty shootout.
