A Deputy Minister for Finance, Abena Osei Asare, has given the strongest indication yet of the government’s resolve to implement the conditions of service for medical doctors.
The Ghana Medical Association (GMA) is demanding that medical doctors at a certain level retire on their salaries and with improved pensions.
The GMA is also demanding tax exemptions on all vehicles imported into the country by its members.
Abena Osei Asare explained that Parliament has already passed an exemption law to pave the way for doctors to enjoy a waiver on vehicles imported.
She also underscored the importance of health professionals and pledged the government’s commitment to ensuring that the welfare of doctors is catered to for greater collaboration toward improving healthcare delivery in Ghana.
