The battle in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) internal wrangling of who controls the party is not yet over. The outcome of the NPP party presidential primaries is pointing to the facts that, the established candidates Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia elected as the new leader of the party woes are deepening as Kennedy Agyepong position as the king of the grassroots is gaining momentum.
The Assin Central Member of parliament Kennedy Agyepong’s pronouncement at the reception to thank his part team members for their hard work and commitment to the course of the party shows he have a stake in the party and going forward, the party executive must consult him before taking any decision.
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) National Communication Team Member Ben Doe discloses this on Agekyee Mu Nsem morning show on Ahotor 92.3 FM hosted by Citizen Kofi Owusu in Accra.
He said he is disappointed with the Member of Parliament Kennedy Agyepong for not speaking to unity call to collaborate with the winning candidate to work as one family going into 2024 elections. He opined that, in the past, where Nana Akufo-Addo was elected he was able to take over the party and the entire executive was under his control.
However, the situation confronting the party now is very difficult to manage since Kennedy Agyepong is looking to be in charge of the grassroots where the strength and the authority is and seems to be commanding the love and support of the party, is very unfortunate to give way to unity and collaboration at the all levels of the party.
Speaking on the same platform the Tema West Constituency Chairman Kwesi Opoku Bosompem, said Kennedy stood against all the authority in the party and have stand tall as an important member of the party. He owns the grassroots now and has a mouth piece for the people in the party. He stated categorically that, he voted for Kennedy Agyepong in the past presidential primaries.
He opined that, Kennedy statement to his team at the reception is justified since he fought a good fight by speaking to the facts and working for the marginalized in the party who have been undermined for the past years.
