The New Patriotic Party presidential primaries to elect their flag bearer are getting twisted with different angles of polls and statements from leading members pointing to victory for Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia, adversely putting Member of Parliament for Assin North Kennedy Agyepong who is urging to close the gap as we count down to 4th November 2023.
The contest according to the survey, conducted with 4,311 NPP delegates from all 275 constituencies between October 2nd and 11th shows Dr. Bawumia leading with 43.5% support.
In a surprising twist, the outspoken MP has managed to rally substantial support, securing 23.5% of delegates’ backing in the last few months.
While Dr. Bawumia remains the candidate to beat, the rising popularity of Kennedy Agyapong suggests that the race may be more closely contested than initially anticipated.
The survey also revealed that 18.3% of delegates remain undecided, indicating that the final outcome may hinge on a fierce campaign effort.
The Executive Director of Global Info Analytics Mussa Dankwa discloses this on Ahotor 92.3 on Adekye Mu Nsem’s morning show hosted by Citizen Kofi Owusu in Accra.
He is of the view that the two leading contenders in a person of Dr. Bawumia and Kennedy Agyepong can clinch the victory, with a possibility of what the grassroots delegates hinged on during this final lap of their campaign can turn the outcome, though Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia, has the best chance.
He hinted that though, the percentage of 18.3% undecided and 14.0% Non disclosed can be described as anti-establishment of Alan Kwadwo Kwremateng and Kennedy Agyepong, can cause a surprise if they voted for Kennedy there is a possibility that he can clinch victory, but then, Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia has the best chance closed to the 50% plus one as against Kennedy Agyepong which is trailing with a percentage margin of 23.5% while Dr. Bawumia is leading with 43.5%.
Mussa Dankwa opined that the chances for the two candidates in a person of Francis Addai Nimo and Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto who are trailing behind according to the polls conducted, chances to win the presidential primaries not possible looking at the views and feedback from the field in the research shows clearly the race who leads the party into 2024 presidential election is between Kennedy Agyepong and Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia.
