Residents in the Volta Region have resorted to the use of polluted water for their chaos.
There is danger ahead for thousands of residents affected by the flood caused by the spillage of Akosombo and Kpong Dams with the fear of cholera outbreak and other waterborne diseases eminent.
The Queen Mother of Sokpe in the North Tongu district of the Volta Region, Mamagah Ajarsu is worried the members of the communities have begun to show signs of infections which will happen soon if the polluted water issue is not addressed immediately.
The District Chief Executive of North Tongu, Divine Afenu has said local health authorities are collaborating with personnel from the Ghana Health Service (GHS) to undertake screening for all those affected by the flood.
The Christian Council of Ghana went to the affected areas and was led by the Chairman of the council Rev Dr. Herlad Dela Dogbe said what they had been seeing and hearing from the media was heartbreaking so it is their responsibility to look for the well-being of others.
While they were praying and interceding for them, they decided to bring them some relief items like food items, truckloads of water, and others commensurate with the communities. In all the Member for North Tongu is appealing to the government to declare a National state of emergency for international support.
