It’s very unfortunate and disturbing the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government and some people with the Chief Imam’s office are trying very hard to politicize the highest office of the Muslim religion in the country. This act has to be condemned in all uncertain terms; rather it creates an enabling environment for Muslims and Christians to coexist.
The former member of parliament for Madina, Hon. Amadu Sorogho said the agenda by the NPP to use all public events where the former president is invited has been turned to the political ground to discredit the former president under the guise of protocol from the seat of government is very regrettable.
Hon. Sorogho said this on the Simpieso political show on Ahotor FM 92.3 in Accra. Reacting to a media report on the Chief Imam Spokes person Sheikh Aremeyaw Shaibu’s protocols arrangement for the former president John Dramani Mahama’s courtesy call on the Chief Imam Osman Nuhu Sharubutu in Accra can be described as a smack of disrespect to the former president office.
He called on the NPP government to create a good enabling environment for Ghanaians to coexist devoid of politics. He cautioned saying employing the culture of the region in politics can degenerate into conflict if care is not taken it can destroy the peace we are enjoying among the Muslim and the Christian communities in the country.
Touching on Prof. Frimpong Boateng’s report and comments coming from the attorney general’s office, he said this is absurd and politically tinted. He said this report was at the presidency for the past two years without any attention.
Despite its leakage to the public and a lot of evidence from the media, community heads, and chiefs, the state Attorney General has really disappointed Ghanaians with his comments that he does not see any evidence in the report for prosecution.
Speaking on the same program, Ibrahim Mumuni, (BABS) Director of Operations – ADAM GH, said Vice President Dr. Mahamadu Bawumis is a living failure in his political career by using all public platforms to discredit the former president will not make him popular.
He said his abysmal performance in government for the past seven years, failing to do much for the Muslim community throughout the country is the only record he can ride on for victory. He opined that the former president is enjoying the support outside and inside government as a result of his track record of past development.
And there’s nothing the government and his protocol team can do to discredit the former president in any public events. The Muslim community throughout the country will continue to show love and support for the president wherever he shows up.
Speaking to Prof. Frimpong Boateng he opined that he is disappointed with the Attorney General’s office, for baseless and unsubstantiated comments saying he cannot find any evidence in the reports for prosecution.
He said the government is just trying hard to protect his friends and top government officials implicated in the report.
