Residents of Santrokofi, Lekpe, Akpafo, and Lolobi traditional areas are insisting that it is illegal for the Electoral Commission to present a new constitutional instrument (CI) to parliament for the establishment of Guan constituency in the Oti Region.
The Electoral Commission on the eve of the 2020 elections called for the exclusion of the residents from voting and electing a Member of Parliament (MP) all though, although they were allowed to vote in the presidential election.
The Director of Electoral Services at the Electoral Commission, Dr. Kwaku Srebou expressed optimism that the CI will be passed into law if parliament resumes.
The co-chairman for the joint steering committee of Akpafu and Lolobi traditional areas, Dr Joe Addai said the endorsement will be illegal so he wants the EC to consider the input of others.
