The Security Policy Expert, at the Centre for Security Dialogue and Peace Advocacy Mr. Anthony Acquye, has called on the organizers of the demonstration in protest of the resignation of the Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr. Addison and the police must collaborate to ensure peaceful democratic exercise tomorrow in Accra.
He stated that the command control of the police must assist the demonstrators to understand all forms of operations, rules, and laws governing, picketing, rioting, and matching in the events of demonstration.
He discloses this in Adekyee Mu Nsem’s morning show on Ahotor FM in Accra. In his opinion, he is of the view that, though the Force Police Unit (FPU) is professionally trained for crowd control, the unit is under staff and he therefore called on the police command to reinforce additional officers that will be deployed for the operation in tomorrow’s demonstration.
He opined that, best collaboration from the organizers and the command control in charge of the demonstration can easily forestall any violent incidents we have experience in past demonstration in the past.
Alhaji Kadel Taylor, New Patriotic Party (NPP) communication team member said the demonstration of the opposition civil societies organization, political parties and other progressive groups will never achieve its purpose, since he believes there is a need for all of us to bare with the government, in addressing the global economic challengs the government is confronted with.
In another development, the Chairman of National Democratic Congress Manchester branch, Mr. Emmanuel Yeboah, contribution on the show, said the leadership of the New Patriotic Party President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo, has destroy the country under his leadership for the past seven years. He further stated that, corruption and abuse of human rights in the country is on ascendancy.
This he said behooves on the United Kingdom chapter of the NDC to work hard to conduct their elections, leading with the debate for the contesting candidates for the executive position to ensure free and transparent elections, to help win back power with the sterling leadership of John Dramani Mahamah to come back in 2024.
Touching on the ongoing limited voter registration, member of the national communication team Mr. Ben Doe, said the fear of restricting the registration exercise to Electoral Commission District offices throughout the country to discourage foreigners from registering does not achieved the purpose.
This he said, was very unfortunate since the exercise has rather brings more protest challenging the stators of people believe to be foreigners.
