Nollywood actress Funke Akindele has shared how her marriage to JJC Skillz faced difficulties and how she overcame the loss.

During an interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, a movie producer advised young women to learn from her experience and avoid rushing into marriage. She shared that she had succumbed to societal pressures and hastily tied the knot, hoping to do everything right. However, things did not go as planned, and she found herself going through a difficult and public divorce. The producer’s advice is valuable for young women who may be contemplating marriage.

She said, “Take your time, if you rush in you will rush out. You know, I just wanted to get married. I want to do things right, have children and all that. When I went into the marriage, it didn’t work fine. And it ended in a very bad way, in social media, the noise was everywhere. I was actually filming and somebody called me and told me, I wanted to die!”

During the divorce process, Akindele faced challenges such as losing business deals and emotional stress. Nevertheless, her mother provided her with words of encouragement to stay positive and focus her energy on her business. Akindele followed her mother’s advice, which proved to be successful for her.

In her words, “You know I cried, lost some good deals then. But I didn’t let it break me. Thank God for my mum who encouraged me to put more effort to work. I channeled the energy to work and I kept saving more. I didn’t let the situation break me down.”

In 2016, Akindele and Abudulrahseed Bello, who is also known as JJC Skillz, tied the knot in a grand wedding that was admired by the public, and they were regarded as a dynamic duo. Two years later, they joyfully welcomed twin boys into their family. However, their relationship began to deteriorate in 2020, which ultimately led to their divorce two years later.

At the premiere of their film She Must Be Obeyed, the two individuals who had previously been married were seen working together in a harmonious manner. They appeared to be in a jovial mood, dancing and exchanging smiles with one another.
