Real Madrid injury woes worsens.
Real Madrid suffer double blow as Antonio Rudiger and David Alaba joins injury list
Real Madrid’s injury crisis has deepened after the centre-back duo Antonio Rudiger and David Alaba became the latest to join the growing list of injured players.
The defensive duo sustained injuries during Madrid’s 2-0 win over Las Palmas at Santiago Bernabeu last night.
Alaba left the field with discomfort in his leg minutes before half-time, with Lucas Vazquez filling his place.
On the other hand, Rudiger was also spotted limping out after the game.
Reports are stating that the German centre-back has a problem with his calf and will undergo medical examinations in the coming hours.
Meanwhile, Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed that Alaba will not participate in the next game against Girona, although he didn’t provide any major update on Rudiger.
Spanish outlet Marca suggests that the latest injury to Alaba could rule him out of action for around three weeks.
It leaves Los Blancos in the lurch since Nacho is the only available central defender option, with Eder Militao already sidelined with a long-term ACL injury.
It will be interesting to see how Ancelotti will tackle the issues in the upcoming games against Girona and Napoli.
Meanwhile, Los Merengues welcomed Vinicius Junior after a month from injury, with the Brazilian taking to the field against Las Palmas.
Madrid’s winning streak ended against Atletico Madrid last weekend, but they bounced back with a comprehensive win over Las Palmas last night, with Brahim Diaz and Joselu registering their names on the scoresheet.
The victory also saw them move to second in the table, with Barcelona dropping to third after the 2-2 draw against Mallorca.
Madrid will face a tough challenge against leaders Girona on Saturday.
