The decision by Mr. Alan Kwadwo Kyremanten to come out from the ongoing New Patriotic Party (NPP) Presidential primaries to contest as an independent presidential candidate, can best be described as a rebuilding effort with an agenda for “movement for change” to fight and rebuild the party back.
According to Charles McCarthy the editor of the Hawk Newspaper and Plainspoken adviser said Alan Kyeremanten’s strategic movement is likely not going to affect President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo, whose bad leadership, has brought this disunity within the party. He said this on the Siempieso, a political show on the Ahotor FM in Accra.
Above all, he said is only innocent party faithful and supporters who are going to pay dearly for this divided front within the NPP going into the 2024 national elections.
He reiterated that the national executives of the party have really damaged the future strategy of the party with a presser to respond to Alan Kyerematen’s declaration to contest the presidency as an independent candidate.
This he said handling issues of political party conflicts and disagreements has to do with sober reflections and managing all factions with care and modesty in charting a course that can bring back any member who wants to go out of the party ranks, considering Alan’s political stature.
He opined that the executive should have done the needful to be careful with their statement rather than throwing a volatile statement which turns into a destructive tool for the opposition.
In another development, an ardent supporter of Mr. Alan Kwadwo Kyeremanteng Mr. Kwadwo Yeboah, who carries himself as the new regional chairman for the Alan for Change Movement said the National Democratic Congress as a party is going to benefit from this movement, as their role and strategy is to rebrand and package the movement to do away with; NPP as a party which does not love or accept any supporter’s that follows Alan Kyeremanteng.
He further stated that it’s very unfortunate for the NPP as a party to orchestrate an agenda against the 96 members of parliament who came out protesting for the removal of the finance minister Ken Ofori Attah to lose their seats in coming NPP parliamentary primaries. He said there are likely going to be more independent parliamentary candidates running on the agenda for change for movement.
Mr. Kwadwo Yeboah further stated that the strategy of the movement not to come out with a political party, but to allow their leader to contest the presidential election as an independent candidate is to avoid any stumbling blocks they foresee from the electoral commission to frustrate their new party, by using some clauses to disqualify him. This argues going forward this movement is going to work very hard to develop into a strong political party.
