Create more voter registration centers – Hon Krosbi Mensah

Ghanaian youths in the country and more especially those residing in the constituency of Afram Plains North are facing a lot of challenges to be part of the ongoing limited voter registration exercise.

The location of the electoral commission offices in some parts of the country for the registration exercise is very difficult to access. Speaking to the issues on Adekyee Mu Nsem morning show on Ahotor FM in Accra, Hon Betty Nana Efua Krosbi Mensah said the islands community’s in the Afram Plains are finding it very difficult to travel about eight hours through the Volta lake to be part of the national exercise of the limited voter registration. She said it’s on record that, the Electoral Commission always used helicopter to deliver elections materials in all national elections.

This can attest to the facts that, going forward with the registrations activities; by using only all the EC district office in the constituencies and the Island communities is likely going to disenfranchise a lot of new potential voters.

She further reiterated that, it’s cost her an amount of GH135, 000 to transport some new voters who are willing to take part in the exercise. She is of the view that, though the EC Commissioner Madam Jean Mensah has acknowledge her petition, her decision to create more centers in the coming year for continues registration defeat the purpose by disenfranchising some of the new voters to take part in the December 19th district assembly elections.

Hon. Betty Nana Efua Krosbi Mensah said going forward there is a need to put structures in place to support the EC to carry out this national assignment to allowed all the new potential voters to be part of the exercise.

She mentions deplorable state of education, health and road infrastructures are some of the major challenges facing the constituency, this she stress have to do human resources in areas of teachers and health officials.

Betty Nana Efua Krosbi Mensah called on the government to be focused and developed the constituency, despite the internal party challenges the government is going through.

She further stated that the government has mismanaged the country economy and nothing can change by calling on the Ghanaians to come out and vote the NPP out of government to allow John Dramani Mahamah to come and continue with the good job he was doing.
