NPP accused NDC of twisting cocoa pricing facts – Ahiagbar

The NPP has hit back at the NDC, accusing the opposition of spreading misinformation and fact-twisting.

Director of communication of the NPP, Richard Ahiagbar insists government has not shortchanged farmers contrary to the claims of the NDC.

Addressing the media, he said, “the NDC is either intentionally, because they’ve been in government before so I won’t say they don’t know, they know, but they intentionally for mischief purposes confusing spot price with forward price that we have achieved; they are not the same”.

He however plead with Ghanaians that, the facts are clear and that this NPP government led by Nana Addo Danquah is so thoughtful about cocoa farmers hence the increase

This is coming at the back of a press conference held by the National Democratic Congress in Ahafo indicating that, the GHC 1300 price increments in Cocoa producer price is not enough.

According to the Minority, the recent increase is actually a rip off on the famers.

The Minority Leader, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson accused the government of shortchanging the farmers.

He said farmers should have received at least GH¢2,500 per cocoa bag, considering the high price of cocoa on the international market.
