Politicization of security agencies under this government is frightening- Tamale Central MP

Member of Parliament for Tamale Central in the Northern region, Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed has indicated that, the politicization of security agencies in the country under the Nana Addo administration is very frightening and worrying.

Speaking on AM Show on Joy News monitored by Onokwafo Yaw Asiedu, the lawmaker emphased on how COP Alexander George Mensah and his other colleagues expressed their enthusiasm for NPP when they appeared before the parliamentary adhoc committee.

According to him, what signals are they sending to young constables in the police service looking up to them.

He said there is nothing wrong for personnel to belong to a political party but the constitution does not permit such act in public because of professionalism.

He said there was a lot of difference between the IGP and the rest who appeared before the committee because he demonstrated reasoning whiles the others were doing “buga buga” in front of the committee.

According to Hon Murtala, for the others to say the IGP communicates with the former president hence he is not doing the right thing indicates that, if they would have gotten the power as the IGP, even if the need to engage the leader of the largest opposition party for the purposes of maintaining peace and sustainability in this country, they will not do that.

“If you think that a political opponent in maintaining peace and security and stability in this country, as IGP I should insulate them I should not even engage them for the purposes of maintaining peace and stability of the country, won’t you be a buga buga police officer” he asked.
