The Inspector General of Police, Dr George Akufo Dampare has expressed deep anguish over the allegations stemming from the leaked tape to oust him and it’s subsequent developments revealing he feels bad about allegations.
“This is just not fair” he said in pains before the Adhoc committee chaired by Samuel Atta Akyea.
“As a human being like all of us when your own brothers have done what they did and instead of owning up and taking responsibility and probably apologizing for us to move on, they try to cook business allegations and smear it against you!” he said.
Dr Dampare indicated that, his relationship with the three police officers is still intact.
“ I will definitely feel bad but who I’m I? there is nothing I can do about it and if I feel bad, it’s to some extent but as a Christian that I am, forgiveness is medicine and that is what I have just eaten, I have drunk by going to my brothers to let them know that as far as I’m concerned whatever they have done is not an issue to me because the Lord that I serve keep comforting me in a manner that comprehend me”.
Tuesday, September 12 sitting was held in public contrary to an earlier decision by the committee.
Three police officers and the former Northern Regional chairman of the governing NPP, Daniel Bugri Naabu were implicated in the audio recording.
Former Director General (Technical) of the Ghana Police Service, COP Mensah, recently expressed that a significant portion of the Service is discontented with the management style of the IGP.
But, Dr Dampare indicated that, the records are there to show and that, it is not true that his administration is the worst.
