Kotoko part ways with eleven players who are surplus to requirement.
Kumasi Asante Kotoko have mutually parted ways with eleven players who are not included in the team plans ahead of the upcoming season.
This revelation came to the lime light after a meeting with the intrim management Committee and was communicated to these eleven players by the head coach . He expressed that these players are surplus to requirement ahead of the new directions of the club.
Players who have been shown the exit door include; Abdul Rafiu Yakubu, Maxwell Agyemang, Andrews Appau, Mohammed Alhassan, Solomon Sarfo Taylor and Samuel Boateng , Ernest Osei Opoku, Evans Adomako, Clinton Opoku, Charles Owusu and Dickson Afoakwa.
With the eleven players leaving Kotoko, the former Ghana Premier league champions are closing to completing the signing of Berekum Chelsea duo of Henry Ansu and Kalo Quattara , Henry Ansu is a defender while Kalo Quattara is an attacker and will be undergoing Asante Kotoko medicals next week before the official announcement.
The Porcupine Warriors have reached an agreement to sign former WAFA SC captain Michael Dwamena who is set for medical.
Its revealed the three players are joining Asante Kotoko based on the recommendation of head coach Dr Prosper Narteh Ogum.
Meanwhile, Asante Kotoko will commence pre-season for the 2023/24 league season at Beposo Park in the Ashanti Region on on August 8, 2023.
Asante Kotoko will open the 2023/24 season of the Ghana Premier League against league returnees Hearts of Lions at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.
