Victims of the recent Dansoman market fire are urgently appealing for financial assistance from the government, benevolent individuals, and philanthropists to help them rebuild their lives and businesses after the devastating incident.
More than 250 traders, including tailors, seamstresses, and petty traders, lost all their wares and working tools when a violent blaze swept through the market on Tuesday, November 25, 2025.
The victims say the destruction has left them in severe hardship, with many struggling to provide for their families.
Addressing a press conference, the affected traders expressed deep frustration, revealing that although institutions such as NADMO, MASLOC, and the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection visited the scene and made encouraging promises, there has been no follow-up support since.
According to them, the fire could not have come at a worse time, as the Christmas season is typically their most profitable period.
Instead of earning income, many are now unemployed and unable to recover on their own.
They are therefore appealing to the government and the general public to come to their aid with urgent financial support to help them restock, rebuild, and return to work.
The victims say restoring their businesses will not only help them regain their livelihoods but also revive economic activity in the Dansoman community, which has been greatly affected by the tragedy.
