Chris Hughton speaks about Gideon Mensah’s injury situation.
The head coach of the Black Chris Hughton has explained the injury situation in the camp, especially Gideon Mensah which lead him to be exempted from the squad.
The Black Stars coach confirmed that Gideon Mensah is ruled out due to a long-term injury that he has but has been managing to play with in his club.
“The situation with Gideon Mensah is, his club has been managing an injury he has but this is somebody that has been playing with the games and maybe it’s because his team was obviously in a very tight position. Sometimes you get a feel from a player who maybe not soo confident in coming or a player who wants to come, Gideon wanted to be here, that’s a good sign.”
The left-back was part of the squad that reported to camp on Monday and trained at the Accra Sports Stadium later in the day, but he has been ruled out of the game against Madagascar.
Gideon Mensah who made his Ghana debut against South Africa in 2019 has featured in one Africa Cup of Nations tournament and the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
