Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, Member of Parliament (MP) for Tamale South, has warned that the unbridled attacks of the governing New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) vigilante groups has become a threat to the country’s national security.
NDC Minority MPs visit President Rawlings, beg him to lead party to 2020 elections According to Hon. Iddrisu, Ghanaians are living in fear because of the repeatedly violent attacks perpetrated by groups such as the NPP’s Delta Force and Invincible Forces.
Speaking to Joy FM’s Evans Mensah on Thursday, the Tamale South legislator opined that the President Nana Akufo-Addo’s administration has failed to protect Ghanaians citizens from these unlawful attacks.
“We are concerned and worried about the creeping lawlessness in the country and the inability of President Akufo-Addo and supported by the security agencies to nip this in the bud,” he said.
Pay Attention: Get all the latest news on YEN.com.gh Hon. Iddrisu’s comments are in response to yet another act of unlawful violence where Delta Force members forcefully removed other members from police custody following a Kumasi court’s order to keep said members in remand.
Following the Ashanti Regional Coordinator, George Agyei’s assault 21 suspects were arrested, although only 13 of them appeared before court, prompting the court to issue bench warrants for their arrests.
The Ghana Police Service have already arrested 8 individuals suspected of taking part in today’s court attack, and the Inspector General of Police (IGP), David Appeatu, has publicly vowed to round up the remaining suspects.
