Member of Parliament for Nkoranza South Emmanuel Kwadwo Agyekum is calling for an independent body to investigate the death of Albert Donkor who died in their custody at Nkoranza last year as the police can’t be trusted in investigating the matter fairly.
The Ghana Police Service says its investigations show that Albert Donkor who died in their custody at Nkoranza last year was an alleged armed robber and lost his life during an operation to apprehend his accomplices.
In an investigative brief discussed with the families of the deceased in Nkoranza last Friday, the police insisted that Albert Donkor, 27, was part of a group of alleged robbers that attacked and robbed passengers along the Nkoronza-Jema road on April 25, last year.
However, the police said investigations revealed that Donkor would not have died if the police officers had acted more professionally.
Speaking on Ahotor 92.3 Fm‘s afternoon political show ‘Simpieso‘ with host Emmanuel Martey a.k.a Alaska De Don, Hon. Agyakum said “The autopsy report is not out yet but I can tell you that per the report, it was a high-velocity bullet that was used to shoot Albert, who has got those guns in this country isn’t the Police?.
Let’s get an independent person to investigate it, the police what they are doing, you don’t go and kill somebody and investigate it yourself” he opined.
Honorable Emmanuel Kwadwo Agyekum said the family of the late Albert Donkor will not leave the death of their son to God as they will follow the case to get justice.
