(HOT AUDIO): Using Ghana Card to vote is not bad but NIA should help people get the card easily – Lecturer

The Electoral Commission (EC) is seeking a new Constitutional Instrument (CI) that could bring some changes to Ghana’s electoral processes.

The newly proposed instrument by the EC makes the Ghana Card the only identification document to be used to guarantee citizenship if passed.
Also inherent in the CI. is a requirement that persons who want to register to do so at an EC district office.

On Thursday, February 23, the EC was represented in Parliament by Deputy Commissioner, Bossman Asare but was opposed by the Minority Caucus in the House which prompted some disagreements as Parliament sat deep into the night.

Reacting to this on Ahotor 92.3 Fm’s morning show “Ade Kyi Mu Nsem“, Lecturer at the IT and Law Mr. Bright Eric Quansah said the decision to use the Ghana Card to vote is not a bad idea but the National Identification Authority should set up key centers for all Ghanaians to be rolled onto the Ghana Card.
