Christian Atsu was an amazing player – Kwadwo Asamoah

Ex-Black Stars midfielder, Kwadwo Asamoah has described the former teammate as an amazing player.

In an interview after paying homage to the family of the late Christian Atsu,  he expressed that he had a very close relationship with him on and off the field but he will always be remembered in his heart.

” Atsu was an amazing guy, very friendly. We used to play around on and off the pitch, if l talk about Atsu, I don’t think we will finish now but all that I can say is that he was a very lovely,  respectable person to both players and coaches,  even outsiders who didn’t know him, now know the kind of person he was “.

Kwadwo Asamoah further shared his view on whether the GFA should retire the Number 7 Jersey.

“It’s just sad to lose someone like Atsu. He has done a lot for the country, his talent and his personality but we are in a country with so many tribes, religions, and different ways of doing things, so anyway they do things to remember Atsu will be very important “.

Kwadwo Asamoah played for the National team with the Late Christian Atsu.

Asamoah was given his debut for the Ghana national team, Black stars, in 2008, under French manager Claude le Roy.

He represented Ghana in the 2008 and 2010 editions of the Africa Cup of Nations, winning a bronze and a silver medal in the respective tournaments, and later also appeared in the 2012 and 2013 editions.

He also played for Ghana at the FIFA World Cup in 2010 and 2014, helping them reach the quarter-finals of the former tournament.

On 5 October 2022, Kwadwo announced his retirement from professional football.
