The Ghana Football Association has asked all clubs to observe a one-minute silence in honour of the late Christian Atsu.

The former Ghana International was confirmed dead on Saturday, February 18, 2023, after his body was recovered from the rubble of a collapsed building following the earthquake that struck Southern and Central Turkey on Monday, February 6, 2023.

In a statement, the GFA said all clubs in the Ghana Premier League, Division One League and Women’s Premier League should observe a minute of silence in honour of the departed footballer.

“Notice is being served for a one-minute silence at all GFA-organized competitions in honour of Christian Atsu.”

“The competitions include the betPawa Premier League, the Access Bank Division League, the Women’s FA Cup and all Regional Football Association League matches.”

“Stakeholders, Match Commissioners and Referees are to take note and act accordingly.”

Atsu’s remains are on their way to Ghana to be buried in his hometown.

He made 65 appearances for the Black Stars between 2012 and 2019, including the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations, where he was adjudged player of the tournament.
