This revelation came to light when the GOC/CGA submitted their 2022 annual report to Congress.
The president of the Ghana Olympics Committee, Mr Ben Nunu Mensah emphasized that grants and support were secured for the athletes and other National federations.
A Continental Athletes support grant of $100,000 spread over 2022, 2023, and 2024 has been approved for Ghana and the first tranche of $40,000 for 2022 has been allocated to Judo, Swimming, Golf, Weightlifting and Handball. The second tranche in 2023 will be allocated to Fencing, Athletics and two other federations that may have activities in 2023 and applied accordingly.
It was also revealed that 10 National Team Athletes have been awarded an IOC Scholarship which will see each of them receiving an amount of $750.00 every month from January 2023 to the end of the Olympic games in Paris. Steps are also far advanced to secure ANOCA Scholarship for additional five athletes from Ghana.
Lastly, the youth Team of the Ghana Basketball and the Softball Federation was also supported by the GOC to secure an amount of $7,672.00 under the YAD option 3 funding.
The GOC will hold their election in October with the president, Ben Nunoo Mensah hoping to be re-elected to lead the committee,
