MP for Afram Plains North Constituency in the Eastern Region Hon. Betty Nana Efua Krosby Mensah has opined that, the Akufo Addo led administration has denied the people of her constituency developmental facilities for the past 6 years of being in office.
The MP who emerged as the best female MP due to her sterling performance in both parliament and constituency during a survey conducted in the year 2022 stated that, the Afram Plains North Constituency is a deprived area which lacks many social amenities of the Eastern Region. A situation she bemoaned as highly unpatriotic.
She said this during an exclusive interview with Ahotor 92.3 fm on Thursday breakfast show dubbed ” Thursday class”. She use the medium to highlight some interventions her office have initiated to support the people in the Constituency since becoming MP for six years.
The Afram Plains North lawmaker further remarked that, there are a lot of efforts which must be put in place to bridge the gap between the central government and deprived constituencies especially on the aspect of provision of pro poor policies and initiatives to better the lives of the people.
According to the MP, government must ensure that priority and attention is given to vulnerable areas in the country. She said to Citizen Kofi Owusu on the program that, there are only two chip compounds in the Constituency and was established during the erstwhile John Dramani Mahama’s administration.
Hon Efua Krosby stated that the one of the largest man – made lake can be found in the Afram Plains North Constituency which separates communities and economic life difficult for the inhabitants since they are mostly seafarers who depend on bricks business activities for survival. She lamented on threats pose by the Volta lake and said government should commit to equitable discharge the National Cake in the spirit of fairness
The lawmaker again contended to Ahotor Fm that, the Afram Plains North is traditionally NDC stronghold and due to that the ruling party is adamant to lobby the provision of infrastructure projects on behalf of the people.
The NDC has issued Timelines and Time Table for both Presidential and Parliamentary Primaries in the party is slated for 13th May 2023. This was contained during a media briefing on Wednesday at the party’s head office by the General Secretary Mr. Fiifi Fiavi Kwetey.
Hon Nana Efua Krosby Mensah said she has work so tirelessly to consolidate the gains made in the Afram Plains North Constituency and sound confident that the constituents will reward former President John Mahama come 2024 elections. Madam Krosby said she will contest the upcoming primaries of the party and hope to retain the seat in 2024.
She took a swipe at President Akufo Addo led administration for denying the people the needed developments.
