Adam Lallana could miss six of Liverpool’s last nine Premier League games
The 27-year-old midfielder completed England’s 2-0 victory over Lithuania but is understood to have tweaked a thigh muscle towards the end of the Wembley encounter on Sunday.
It means of course he will initially miss this Saturday’s Merseyside derby against Everton but the damage will be felt throughout a busy April.
After Everton (April 1), Liverpool will host Bournemouth at Anfield the following Wednesday before the always tricky journey to Stoke for a rare 3pm kick-off on Grand National day (April 8).
The following Sunday brings another tricky away game at West Bromwich Albion before Liverpool return home to face Crystal Palace the following Sunday.
If Lallana can return within four weeks he would then be aiming to return to the squad for the trip to Watford’s Vicarage Road for a Monday night fixture on May 1, but that too could be in jeopardy.
It could mean Lallana has just three Liverpool games left this season, the home fixture with Southampton (May 6), the trip to West Ham United (May 13) and the last game of the season at home to Middlesbrough (May 21).
