AFCON U-17: Liberia disqualified from U-17 Tournament in Mauritania

Liberia Football Association President, Mustapha Raji, has confirmed the disqualification of the Liberia U-17 team from the ongoing WAFU ZONE A U17 Tournament in Nouakchott, Mauritania.

According to Raji, two out of the 20 players from the team were found none eligible to participate in the tournament.

Article 27.4 of the U-17 Nations Cup regulations state: “If after performing the age eligibility test (MRI) for a participating team and one (1) player was found none eligible, the participating team will be disqualified,”

The competition will last from October 1st through to October 10th. Two teams from each group will progress to the semifinals.

The two finalists of the tournament will earn a spot in the U-17 AFCON in 2023.

  • Mauritania
  • Cape Verde
  • Liberia (Disqualified)

 Group B 

  • Senegal
  • Sierra Leone
  • Mali
