Award-winning Ghanaian investigative journalist of the Forth Estate under the Media Foundation of West Africa, Manasseh Azure Awuni has described president Akufo Addo‘s meeting with Ashanti regional house of chiefs as a joke.
He said president Akufo Addo’s meeting with the House of Chiefs to discuss the fight against Galamsey at such a respectable is something that was not supposed to be allowed in the first place.
He said he was very happy that Otumfour Osei Tutu II himself did not show up at the jokes of a meeting. The president and his organisers could have looked for some concert house for that meeting.
“Manhyia Palace is a very respectable place that should not have entertained the joke that took place there this morning. I was happy I didn’t see the Asantehene at that joke of a meeting, but Manhyia should not have allowed it” he shared on Facebook.
He said the chiefs should not be blamed by the inability to fight Galamsey because everyone knows in Akufo Addo’s cabinets the solution to Galamsey.
He questioned who deployed soldiers to supervise and guard illegal miners and licenced illegal mining activities. He also questioned who appointed defense minister and the CDS, adding that if all Akufo Addo’s appointees are failing in the fight, why blame the chiefs.
He recommended Akufo Addo to fire all his failing appointees and deploy massive military to fight the menace.
