Ghanaian R&B Singer and songwriter , Henry Agyekum, popularly known as Chemphe has revealed the reason why he wrote his famous song “why you dey treat am bad”.
Speaking on Ahotor FM mid-morning show on Friday 30th September 2022, about his music career and also to promote his new gospel single “Conqueror” he narrated how he got the motivation to write his “WHY YOU DEY TREAT AM BAD” tune.
“one day I was going home from the studio, and I was with a taxi driver by that time, and we saw a guy beating a woman at the roadside, and even tore the ladies’ dress. And we were all asking what has she done to deserve such beatings from the guy.”
“But we couldn’t go near to save the lady, thinking that she is naked so when we get near, it means we have seen the ladies nakedness. Until People came there to separate them, so as we were going we were asking ourselves questions.”
“So when I got home, I started writing the song “Why you dey treat am bad”.
He added that “that song become very big, not only in Ghana or Africa but across the world which gave me the platform to travel around.”
Henry Agyekum, who is now a gospel musician and a pastor said he has been to 5 continents and also an ambassador for the Young Christian Association which is worldwide.
He is now out with his new single song titled “Conqueror” which is gospel and he is expected to release his album next month.
