The Acting President of the Ghana Union Conference of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, Pastor Dr Kwame Annor-Boahen has urged churches and other religious groups to join in the fight of corruption in the country
He indicated in an interview with the media that, most of the people who engage in corruption and illegal mining in the country belong to either a church or a Muslim group
He called for discipline among individuals to strengthen our moral stand in society and together help curb the menace of illegal mining and corruption in the country
“If the country’s resources are harnessed effectively and equally distributed without corruption, no Ghanaian would complain of poverty” he said
The slow pace of development in the country is mostly blamed on corruption and bad leadership in the country
The latest Auditor General’s report showed a number of financial infractions, malfeasances and corrupt practices, many Ghanaians urged the Auditor General to use the power he has per the law to surcharge to deter others from committing such acts
Illegal mining popularly known as Galamsey on the other hand has become an issue of great concern to Ghanaians with the numerous effect on our natural resources
Though government is doing what it can to curb the menace, we as individuals must join in the fight to ensure our natural resources are protected
