Born Kwame Ametepee Tsikata, widely known as M.anifest, one of Africa’s rap sensations, has disclosed the benefits of beefing in the industry.
Rap music has recorded countless lyrical beefs. Notably, was his beef with colleague rapper Sarkodie.
Another heated one was years ago between Strongman Burner and Medikal, and more recently between Amerado Burner and Lyrical Joe.
All these, according to M.anifest in an interview on BBC World News, monitored by Modernghana News, are just for attention and sometimes expansion of their respective musical boundaries.
“We’ve just inherited the world…people really recognized the financial benefit of attention. Attention is the new currency, it is a new drive that everybody feeds on and beef is the easiest way to get attention”, he disclosed.
The 2017 VGMAs rap performer of the year awardee further revealed that beefs happen not only in music but also among organizations for similar reasons.
“I have beefs with institutions (laughs)….that is life. It is a lot about different philosophical points of view, always going at each other whether it’s in literature, politics, religion etc”, he noted.
