Management of the Electricity Company of Ghana has installed over 9,000 prepaid meters out of a total of 27,000 meters in the Krobo enclave despite strong resistance and opposition from a section of the community on the exercise.
A visit to the troubled Krobo land by senior officers of ECG was necessary for the management to inspect its installation in the area, interact with staffs, assure them of management’s support and their safety.
The management of the power distribution company who begun the installation of prepaid meters in the Krobo enclave as part of a revenue mobilization drive face serious resistance and threat from the people and the situation resulted in the workers being attacked.
Currently over 9,000 prepaid meters have been installed so far by engineers out of a total of 27,000 meters that the company estimates to install in the Krobo enclave.
Speaking to Journalist on the sidelines of the visit the Managing Director of ECG Samuel Dubik Mahama attributed the gains to the support and effort from the national security and chiefs in the area.
Commenting on the recent military brutalities in the area, Mr. Mahama stated that ECG is yet to receive a report on the incident.
Justifying the involvement of the military in the exercise he said that power would only be restored if a consensus was reached.
