Not Everybody is suppose to be in Police Uniform – Toobu tells Dampare.

Member on the defense and Interior Committee, and MP WA West Constituency, Hon Peter Lanchene Toobu has advise the inspector General of Police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare to concentrate on building the training capacity of personnel’s and persons who express interest to join the service.

The Wa West Lawmaker, stated this, on the back of a research findings by the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) which put the Ghana Police Service as the most endemic bribery rated public institution in the country. According to the release, 53% of respondent believed the service is corrupt.

The Ghana Immigration Services came second at 37.4%

On the other hand, The Ghana Revenue Authority ( GRA) placed 33.6%

Whiles others are trailing in the 2021 Bribery and Corruption Index outcome.

The MP said to Host of Adekye Mu Nsem Citizen Kofi Owusu that, the service can only achieve excellence if the service enhance the quality of persons who put themselves up for enlistment and recruitment process.

Hon Peter Toobu further asserted that, Ghanaians must dispationately detest the conduct of bad nuts in the service.

He explain that, the image of the service is sinking and require immediate redemption.

The former executive secretary who served at the office of a former IGP, okayed that, though there are good men and women in uniform in the service, steps must be taken to wean off individuals with negative intent, and retarded attitudes who are drowning the reputation of the operations.

The outcome of the finding released on Wednesday 20th July, 2022, has become a subject of public discourse due to the collosal amount of about ¢5 billion which the report cited as having gone waste through the public sector.
