The building of a National Cathedral in these harsh economic times is disorganized – Prince David Osei

Ghanaian actor and activist of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) Prince David Osei, has rebuked his government for ignoring the predicament of Ghanaians.

He said the complaints about the construction of a National Cathedral are justified because things are hard for Ghanaians.

The actor shared a post on social media saying the project is a misplaced priority and very insensitive.

“Misplaced priorities, self-glory, greed and insensitivity towards the plight of the citizenry.”

He said, “We can’t pay government workers, staffs, working tirelessly 24/7 yet we have 25,000,000 for a cathedral in this perilous time of our economy.

“So help us, God! I am sorry”, he tweeted.

But the Member of Parliament for Old Tafo, Vincent Ekow Assafuah, in an interview said the project “is not a misplaced priority”, the government has embarked on several projects across the country, like the free senior high school, and therefore, the building of the national cathedral shouldn’t be an issue.

He continued that the Finance Ministry informed Parliament that the government was going to make a seed capital available for the project. Therefore, he can’t understand the issues raised against the 25million cedis earmarked by the government for the project.

The National Cathedral has been in the news ever since the government disclosed that it has released GHS25 million as seed capital for the project.
