The new GHc5 notes unveiled by the Bank of Ghana last week to commemorate its diamond jubilee anniversary will be circulated across the country today [Tuesday March 7, 2017].
The notes come with a distinctive lively portrait of Dr. James Kwegyir Aggrey engraved on it. It also has tactile marking to assist the visually impaired.
There has been concerns that the new note will replace the old ones. But Mr. Dominic Owusu, a member of the currency Department of the Bank of Ghana said the new GHc5 notes is a legal tender to be spent alongside the old ones.
