The appointments of the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) and Chief of Army Staff (CAS) have been confirmed after a Council of State greenlight.
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo had appointed David Asante Appeatu, Major General Obed Boamah Akwa and Maj. Gen. William Azure Ayamdo as IGP, CDS and CAS respectively in the absence of a Council of State.
The three had been acting in their roles, as a result. But a few days after the members of the Council were sworn in, the presidency released a statement confirming the officers.
“The said appointments take effect forthwith,” the statement on Saturday, March 4 said. The confirmation is in pursuant of articles 202 and 212 of the 1992 constitution.
