Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Hon Mark Okraku Mantey has called on the creative arts players to make good use of African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AFCFTA) to sell the industry.
He said despite the industry players having a small market to sell, they can use this opportunity to better up the creative art industry to boost more revenue for the country.
According to him, there are 44 African countries with 3 trillion dollars market sides and if they think through they can take advantage to better up their industry.
Speaking at the 11th Ghana culture day held at the Ghana-India Kofi Annan Centre for Excellence in ICT on Monday 14th March, 2022 a programmed organized by the Ghana Culture Forum, with the theme, strengthening the cultural and creative industry for socio-economic development.
In 2019, the United States of America generated $919.7b in the creative art industry which is still counting, all the units have a role to play and I challenged the agencies in the sector to do as such, he said.
In his speech, he applauded the former deputy minister of tourism arts and culture who is now the Member of Parliament for ketu south constituency, Hon Abla Dzifah Gomashie for her efforts to help grow the industry.
He said anytime they will send budget to parliament, the MP been part of the committee will make sure she will support everything in the budget despite political differences because of the love she has for the industry and been a member as well.
In conclusion, he applaud the film industry and the music industry for the great job they are doing to build the creative art industry and also threw a challenge to the film industry to bring something out concerning coup d’état so that people who do not have any knowledge about coup will learn and desist from coup comments.
