Eleven potential Court of Appeal judges presented to the Chief Justice for consideration.

The Office of the Attorney General and Ministry of Justice has presented names of candidates for Justices of the Court of Appeal role to the Chief Justice for consideration.

A statement from the office said it is in accordance with Article 144 (3) of the 1992 Constitution.

Eleven names have been presented to the Chief Justice for consideration.

The 11 individuals are Her Ladyship Afia Serwaa Botwe, His Lordship Kweku Ackah-Boafo, Her Ladyship Jennifer Abena Dazie, Her Ladyship Gifty Agyei-Addo, His Lordship Francis Obiri, His Lordship Stephen Oppong, Prof. Olivia Anku Tsede, Mr. Christopher Archer, Mr. Charles Zwennes, Dr. Ernest Owusu-Dapaah, Mr. Maxwell Opoku-Agyemang.

In 2019, President Nana Akufo-Addo swore into office, 45 justices of the High Court and Court of Appeals, on the advice of the Judicial Council, at a ceremony at the Jubilee House.

The President, at the time, said the 45 justices “have been considered eminently fit and qualified for the position of Justices of the High Court and Court of Appeal, respectively, and are deemed to have the independence of mind and impartiality of spirit to hold these high offices.”
