Newly-appointed Ghana coach Otto Addo has dropped six players for this month’s FIFA World Cup final play-off game against the Super Eagles of Nigeria.

The technical team of the Black Stars led by Otto Addo have been tasked by the Ghana Football Association to secure a place for the four-time African champions at the 2022 FIFA World Cup to be staged in Qatar from November to December. 

After a run of three consecutive FIFA World Cup appearances between 2006 and 2014, including a run to the quarter-finals in 2010, Ghana failed to qualify for the 2018 tournament staged in Russia and will be keen to make a quick return with a win over the Super Eagles of Nigeria in the two-legged fixture. 

Ahotor FM can exclusively report that China-based midfielder Mubarak Wakaso has been omitted from the squad list for the two-legged crucial game against Nigeria. FC St. Gallen goalkeeper Lawrence Ati-Zigi, who has conceded forty-four (44) goals in his 23 game appearances for the Swiss top-flight league outfit, has been dropped alongside Yeni Malatyaspor striker Benjamin Tetteh. 

Injured David Abagna Sanda and Maxwell Abbey Quaye of Great Olympics have also been left out of Otto Addo’s squad list for the all-important fixtures later this month. Former Dreams FC full-back Philemon Baffour, who recently joined Portuguese club Rio Ave U23 has been omitted from the senior national team list for the first time in the last six months. 

Ahotor Sports understands that Coach Otto Addo and his technical team members namely Chris Hughton, George Boateng and Mas-ud Didi Dramani will announce Black Stars squad for Nigeria clash next week. Ghana will battle out with the Super Eagles of Nigeria for a ticket to the 2022 FIFA World Cup in the final play-off round this month. 

The first leg tie of the two-legged fixture between the two West African nations will be played at Cape Coast Sports Stadium on 25th March 2022 and the second leg will be played four days later in Abuja.
