KAIPTC climbs in Global Go-To Think-Tank ranking

The Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC) has in recognition of its outstanding works been honourably ranked in the annual Global Go-To Think Tank Index report.

The KAIPTC was ranked 78th ahead of the Centre for International Governance Innovation (CIGI) Canada, United States Institute of Peace (USIP), and Amnesty International in the United Kingdom, which placed 89th, 98th, and 100th respectively.

This is an indication that the KAIPTC has distinguished itself among the lot, out of 133 top Foreign Policy and International Affairs Think Tanks.

The KAIPTC, which is part of an elite group of public policy institutions, such as the Brookings Institution and Chatham house, which ranked 1st and 2nd respectively, since 2012 has fared well in the Global Go To Think Tank rankings.

On the African continent, the KAIPTC convincingly outranked the South African Institute of International Affairs (SAIIA) in South Africa, which placed 91st, and its sister institution, the Ghana Centre for Democratic Development (CDD), Ghana, which came 97th on the ranking list.

Out of five African institutions, the KAIPTC was ranked 2nd, and emerged on the top spot amongst the Sub-Saharan institutions that made the list this year. In all, only five institutions on the entire continent made it onto the global list of global leading think tanks in foreign policy and international affairs.

This recognition will in the long term enhance and expand the KAIPTC’s visibility and credibility in public policy, even beyond the borders of African continent to the outside world.

The Global Go-To Think Tank Index Report is produced annually by the Think Tanks and Civil Societies Programme (TTCSP), of the Lauder Institute at the University of Pennsylvania. The index was inaugurated in 2007 and developed with the support of close to 2000 stakeholders from different fields.
