Dr Samuel Ofosu Ampofo National Chairman for NDC has taken a swipe at Ken Ofori-Atta for attempting to swindle Ghanaians through the collections of the propose E Levy.
He questioned the rationale behind the levy and bad strategies being adopted to deceive ordinary people in the country by virtue of organising town hall meetings at the cost of the tax payer.
The National Chairman of the largest opposition wondered if the likes of the finance minister Ken Ofori-Atta lives in the country.
He said all revenue in the country including oil revenue makes allocation not less than 5% to the district Assemblies to cater for the operations of assembly members. Mr Ampofo reiterated is not true that without the projected ¢6.9 billion as expected cash flow from the E Levy, government will not be able pay the district Assemblies common fund.
He also stated that, one of the main motivation why Govt want to pass the E Levy is to purchase a new presidential jet for President Akufo-Addo and it is a major requirement by government and as such is the remain reason of willingness by government to pass the policy.
