The special assistant to the ruling NPP’s general secretary, Mr Bright Acheampong, has added his voice to the ongoing condemnation of post electoral violence, which has characterized the 2016 Parliamentary and Presidential Elections in Ghana. But he has excused the NPP’S office security from any blame.
It will be recalled that the seizures in public toilet and office facilities such as the passport office, the seizures of cars belonging to private persons and much recently the brutalisation of a police officer at the office of the president, flagstaff house, which greeted the historic electoral victory of President Akuffo Addo has seen accusing fingers being pointed at the Invincible forces, a vigilante group alleged to be supporters of the ruling government.
But speaking on 360 politics with Akyena Brantuo on Ahotor FM on Friday 24th February 2017 Mr. Acheampong posited that the said group is unknown to the NPP. In his view the allegations and the said violence visited on Ghanaians are a worrying development perpetuated on Ghanaians by persons who are enemies of the New Patriotic Party Government whose aim is to make the party look bad in the public eye.
He says the NPP as a law abiding political party only has responsible persons manning its party offices to provide guidance and protocol services to visitors to the office. Indeed he added that anytime such complains come about and they follow it up it always turnout to be false.
