The Deputy National Organiser of the National Democratic Congress, Chief Biney has said Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has failed to talk about the impact the digitalization agenda is positively treating the cedi performance against the dollar.
He felt it important to remind the Vice President of what he said is free-fall of the local currency against the dollar.
“…respectfully you forgot to tell us how digitalization has protected the dollar you claim to have arrested and detained in police custody with the key in your pocket.
“It is important to remind you that businesses are suffering, drivers and Kayaye’s are suffering,” he ridiculed.
The Deputy Organizer made the comment in a Facebook post on Wednesday.
He posted, “Good day Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, respectfully you forgot to tell us how digitilization has protected the dollar you claim to have arrested and detained in police custody with the key in your pocket. It is important to remind you that businesses are suffering, drivers and Kayaye’s are suffering. Finally, I will like to know how digitiliazation has reduced the price of goods at the market for the ordinary Ghanaian, just being a citizen, not a spectator.”
His comments follow Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia public lecture on the digitalization of the country’s economy.
He noted that Ghana is globally noted as a pacesetter in digitalization on the African continent, pointing how the country has been championing several digital innovations.
The forum was under the theme, ”Transforming An Economy Through Digitization: The Ghana Story”.
Dr. Bawumia touched on some key digitalization programmes implemented by the government and other initiatives which were in the pipeline.
